Guido Seerden has completed his Bachelor’s degree from Fontys University of Applied Sciences and Master’s in Human and Movement Science from VU University. He completed his Master’s Research Internship at Liverpool John Moores University in cooperation with their Science and Football Department. Currently, he is the Lead Academy Fitness Coach at Al Shabab Al Arabi, a professional football club in Dubai. He has won the Young Investigator Award at the 4th World Conference on Science and Soccer in 2014 and published on fitness in Soccer.

Three youth soccer teams (U15, U17 and U19) playing in a professional youth academy in the United Arab Emirates were selected for this study. Altogether, 10 player of U15, 10 player of U17 and 10 player of U19 participated in this study. A minimum of 2 players were chosen from each of the 3 main out-field playing positions. Goalkeepers were not included in this study. Session-Rate of Perceived Exertion (sRPE) was used as an indicator of daily training load (TL): RPE (1-10 Borg scale) multiplied by the total duration of the session (Arbitrary Units). Data was collected for 3 consecutive weeks and all teams played 3 competitive games within that time span. The training frequency was 13 for U15 and U17, and 12 for U19. Khosro Khademi Kalantari has completed his PhD in Glasgow University. He has been promoted to Professorship in 2013 and has been the Vice Chancellor of Education and Research in School of Rehabilitation, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran since 2008. He has published more than 80 papers in reputed journals and also the Editor of “Journal of Medical Rehabilitation”.

Background: Activity failure or arthrogenic inhibition of quadriceps muscle is a common consequence following knee problems. The incapacity in quadriceps activation not only affects the functional ability of the patients but also can affect the prognosis of the rehabilitation programs. Aim: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of the common peroneal nerve stimulation on the maximum activation capacity of quadriceps muscle in individuals with knee osteoarthritis. Materials & Methods: 15 participants with knee osteoarthritis (9 men and 6 women, with mean age 53±4) were recruited. The activity failure in quadriceps at the baseline was calculated by subtracting the maximum knee extension torque without stimulation by the one with superimposed electrical stimulation. To evaluate the effect of common peroneal nerve stimulation the same procedure was conducted but with concomitant nerve stimulation at the level of fibular head. Results: The peak knee extension torque was significantly higher with concomitant common peroneal nerve stimulation and the activity failure of quadriceps showed significant decrease accordingly (P=0.02). Conclusion: Electrical stimulation of the common peroneal nerve can be used to overcome the arthrogenic inhibition of quadriceps.

He possess over 12 years of experience in all clinical and administrative facets of the physical therapy profession. He has published more than 7 papers in reputed internatinational journals and has been serving as an Editorial Board Member of repute. He has also been a resource person for seminars/workshops/CMEs on Manual Therapy and Research Methodology at various institutions in India.

Pelvic girdle pain (PGP) is a particular form of low back pain (LBP). PGP can arise either alone or concomitantly with LBP. The common site of PGP is between the gluteal fold and the posterior iliac crest, especially close to the sacroiliac joints, and can promulgate to the posterior thigh. Pain can also occur in conjunction with, or exclusively in, the symphysis. This pain is often associated with reduced standing, walking, and sitting activities. The majority of symptoms related to PGP gradually disappears after delivery; however, some women may have persistent problems for years after childbirth. Therefore, identification of the factors associated with the subgroups of LBP may open up new possibilities for the prevention and treatment of the subgroups of LBP.
